Pascal Grosjean från Schweiz körde hem segern i ”Sportsbike Championship” på UAE-banan i Dubai i fredags. Då han glad och lycklig passerade mållinjen som segrare, och slog av på gasen kom trean, Tony Jordan, bakifrån i full fart och kraschade rakt in i Pascal. Kollisionen blev brutal, och de två förarna fördes med helikopter till det lokala sjukhuset.

Grosjean flös till ett lokalt sjukhus där han dödförklarades, samtidigt som Jordan sägs vara i ett allvarligt tillstånd.

"The Dubai Autodrome team and the motorsport community of the UAE are deeply saddened by the enormous loss and pass on our sincere condolences to Pascal Grosjean's family and friends," Hamish Brown, the general executive of Dubai Autodrome, said in a statement. "Pascal was a multiple UAE champion who was well respected in motorsport and motorcycle community."

Automobile och Touring Club i FAE har inlett en fullständig utredning av olyckan.
