KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, MV Agusta, Moto Morini och flera andra motorcykeltillverkare, och underleverantörer, har eller kommer att stänga ner hela eller delar av sin verksamhet under en tid till följd av den pågående Corona-epedemin, som började i Kina och nu har spridit sig till stora delar av världen.

Piaggio-koncernen har meddelat att verksamheten hos Piaggio, Gilera, Vespa, Aprilia och Moto Guzzi åter kommer att dra igång under måndagen, efter att fabrikerna varit stängda under ett antal dagar. Även Ducati har hållit stängt, men även där verkar det som att i alla fall delar av produktionen kommer att återupptas under måndagen. Dessutom meddelar Ducati att deras guidade rundturer i fabriken inte kommer att genomföras, och även museet kommer att hålla stängt en tid framöver. 

Mattighofen-fabriken för KTM, Husqvarna och GasGas kommer även den att hållas stängd under en tid, med två veckors ”semester” 30 mars-10 april.

Så här lyder meddelandet från PIERER Mobility Group, som äger bland annat KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles och GasGas:

“PIERER Mobility Group reacts to the current exceptional situation. From March 30, Europe’s largest motorcycle manufacturer in Mattighofen will respond to the current situation with an interruption in operation and production until April 10.

This measure is triggered by a possible impending interruption in the supply chain from northern Italy. Many suppliers are located in this region, which is badly affected by the Corona virus. With this measure, KTM avoids a possible uncontrolled business interruption and anticipates parts of the company vacation in the summer to stabilize the supply chain in the long term. Not affected by these measurements is the worldwide distribution and the supply of spare parts.

The availability of all models is guaranteed for the upcoming start of the season in the worldwide dealer network.

The current development of the Corona crisis requires a daily reassessment of the situation. The published guidance for the financial year 2020 is thus canceled.”
